The logistics sector wants the private bank
Logistics sector wants sector-specific bank.
Recai Şen, the new CEO of the International Transporters Association (UND), who took over from
Fatih Şener in recent months, held its first press conference. Şen made important statements about
the sector's problems and solutions. He emphasized that the financial problems of the logistics
companies should be created and a financial institution should be created to support the sector.
Recai Şen stated that there are about one thousand members of the UND. He also stated that a
small portion of these firms had a high number of vehicles, and that there was a sector structure
consisting mainly of small and medium sized firms. He said that “We have a large number of
members, but not much capacity. In order to be able to aspire to international business, we need to
strengthen our scales with mergers. We need to renew ourselves both financially and technically.
We lack the institutions that will provide lending to the logistics sector. China has recently invested
in logistics centers in many countries and on different routes. For these investments, it is also an
important source of finance in China and it operates a bank in different countries. The capital for this
is 100 billion dollars. With this money he can come up with the configuration he wants. So where
does our carrier find financial support? It can only be a financial institution to serve the logistics
sector and a bank can do this. When the logistics companies put in for it, the institution will analyze
the company within its own dynamics. At the same time, it will present measures to strengthen the
organization's financial structure. As UND, we are ready to do this work. We must go to such a
structure.”
“We will raise drivers with a university degree.”
Recai Şen gave information about their work on the driver problem, one of the biggest problems
of the sector. He said that “Together with Vocational Qualifications Authority and İŞKUR, we are
preparing a project to train drivers. Also, we will create employment for young people waiting for
work. As they will be qualified drivers, they will be the employees who can come to the top in the
company.”
“We can bypass Bulgaria with Ro-Ro.”
Recai Şen, who said that they are working to establish the ro-ro from the Black Sea to Romania
Constanta to bypass Bulgaria, there are currently 2 firms' applications. The table on which the
incentive to receive an incentive from the state is to be established is evaluated. If the ministry
can create a budget, the number of companies that will aspire to the Constanta line will increase
and the winning sector will be.
The problems that were expected to be solved in 100 days were listed.
Recai Şen listed his 100-day expectations from the ministry as follows: “Eximbank loans should
be more accessible. Border gates need to be operated 24/7. It is imperative that the problems
related to quota and tolls, which cause an additional 55m euros to the Turkish transporter annually,
must be eliminated. It is important to compete with foreign vehicles under equal conditions and to
remove existing unfair competition conditions. In order to eliminate the waiting created by the
tax-free fuel sales at the border gates, it would be beneficial to shift the fuel sales to the parking
areas outside the door or to have a new structure constructed with a tax refund model. Again,
especially in groupage shipments, it is a priority to ensure that all goods carried in the last customs
office are cleared, rather than customs clearance by the carrier in the relevant customs office for
each export goods.”
A UND member should work in the ministry.
Recai Şen said that Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the sector to separate from all kinds
of considerations and said they want to open the front. In the new system, the ministries will no
longer be a performer, so that the problems will be solved more quickly. In the new system, we think
that we can make all kinds of assignments functional arrangement.
